“It’s an easy, round-the-clock wardrobe infused with my personal touch,” said Fausto Puglisi, describing his pre-fall collection with words not typically associated with his maximal ethos. But he wasn’t off base. The compelling lineup featured clean, sharp silhouettes in luxurious fabrics and embellished with precious details.
Puglisi loves the U.S., and this season he was inspired by both the metropolitan, cool attitude of New York City and the West. He worked the references in complimentary combinations, such as a classic-double faced, two-tone cashmere coat worn over skintight pants and a soft chiffon shirt done in a horse and star pattern. The horse and star motif also appeared on a nice slipdress layered on a sheer chiffon blouse. Puglisi’s signature sun medallions embellished the back of a cropped suede jacket with fringe, as well as a sexy cutout dress with the bodice worked in a mannish tweed fabric. The overall look was bold but not exaggerated, and proof that Puglisi can control his volcanic creative impulses without losing the glam factor.
