Precise tailoring was key for Barbara Bui’s pre-fall collection, which was anchored in monochromatic tones of gray and black with small shots of yellow-gold and python leather.
Inspired by Mods and Teddy Boys, Bui showed lean, tapered pants and pointy boots worn with sartorial layers, i.e., a spencer jacket worn over a waistcoat worn over a waistband that mimicked the bottom of another waistcoat.
Outerwear pieces — an elongated bomber, a PVC trenchcoat in a turtle-shell print, a cropped leather peacoat — were mixed in, as was eveningwear, which came in the form of pieces with draped satin inserts and sharp tailored tops and dresses worn over pants.
