There was an easy, yet genteel feel to Oliver Spencer’s spring collection, in which a cast of youthful and mature models walked out to the strains of a string quartet playing Kraftwerk’s “The Model.”
The designer sent out breezy pieces such as shiny, lightweight macs, tailored pants with rolled-up hems, and round-neck artists’ smocks, in a largely muted palette of plum, navy and army green. He played off those sober tones with patterns and prints, as in a red and black checkered bomber jacket, or a blown-up black and yellow floral design on a laid-back pajama suit, while a micro-version of that floral came on a single-breasted jacket. Shiny oxfords, along with the leather backpacks and suede holdalls that the models carried, added polish to this appealing lineup.
