“Is it real, or is it fake?” was the question the CMMN SWDN design duo Saif Bakir and Emma Hedlund posed in their spring collection, full of trompe l’oeil effects and odd proportions. A Seventies brown leather jacket had a texture that resembled snakeskin, while a latex version of the same jacket was made to resemble leather.
Cropped bombers came with hand-obscuring sleeves, and trousers were either abbreviated or trailed on the floor. Optical-print ties blended into cap-sleeved shirts bearing the same patterns, while heat-transfer motifs bore distorted images by artists including Albert Gleizes.
