Monkey on your back?
Leather backpacks shaped like orangutans were part of an expanded accessories range for Christopher Raeburn, and a beacon of his spring inspiration: “Barefoot Anthropologist” Tom Harrison, synonymous with the tribes and wildlife of his beloved Borneo.
While loyal to his theme – and the military thread that runs through his label, up to and including repurposed parachute fabrics – this collection of explorer togs did not take flight on the runway.
Papery fabrics are popular on London runways, and Raeburn fashioned his into cool blazers and billowing macs — along with loads of trekking shorts and roomy trousers. In a similar lightweight vein were black nylon blousons and camouflage safari jackets spliced with mesh.
