In his New York City return, Tommy Hilfiger presented a collection that celebrated heritage classics for a new age.
“These are iconic essentials every man needs for his wardrobe, made relevant for today,” he said.
A military topcoat was updated with red piping and nautical buttons and was shown with a rounded-collar dress shirt and a striped pajama ensemble.
Another play on his preppy aesthetic came in a pierced and patched rugby sweater over a “reverse silhouette” khaki — which translates into a more slouchy cut.
Regimental stripes reigned throughout the collection in everything from suits to sneakers. The military influence worked best in cropped shearling jackets and an oversize explorer’s leather jacket with a moto influence.

Hilfiger proved his men’s wear mettle by injecting a well-chosen amount of detailing, including an epaulette on a back collar, contrast stitching on outerwear pieces and chunky ribbed collars.
“Detail is so important in men’s wear,” he said. “It sets us apart from the competition and gives the man a new reason to update his wardrobe.”
