Retro is in, and Sergio Corneliani made it his mantra for fall.
A faded photo of a cobblestone European street and matching glistening runway set the mood for the brand’s vintage-inspired collection. There was some good old crocheting going on, which looked nerdy on a bunch of V-neck sweaters, but stayed clear of corny as the Mantuan tailor paired it with long and loose, single-pleated pants.
The tailoring continued on roomy coats with accentuated lapels – some rendered in fancy astrakhan, others in patterned wool, while the palette spanned the full range of brown tones – from chocolate and caramel to cognac and beige, which were also trending at Pitti Uomo.

Corneliani said he particularly looked to postwar fashion, which came through in a handsome volley of Forties-style leather jackets with classic shirt or flamboyant stand-up collars, imbuing the lineup with a graceful, trans-generational appeal.
