Mirko Fontana and Diego Marquez were in a playful mood for fall, presenting the collection on a giant Monopoly board and incorporating some of the game’s features — such as question marks, miniature steam trains and lightbulbs — as prints or embroideries in their retro-inspired collection.
While models moved around the board like tokens, Marquez explained that he was aiming at “a Seventies atmosphere with a touch of rockabilly,” which came through in the lineup’s soft colors — sky blue, bleached red and beige — as well as thick-soled shoes with glittery fronts. Yet silhouettes were essentially Sixties: slim with an almost psychedelic mix of textures and patterns. There were Vichy checks alongside fake fur and padded nylon. Only the confident should attempt this fashion game.
