Guests arriving at the Soulland presentation were invited to download an iPhone app that, when activated, cast Nineties graphics on green screens behind each model. The backbone of Soulland’s collection, with its soccer shirts, bombers and Teflon-coated parkas, was the Manchester music scene of the Eighties and Nineties, mixed with “lad” culture, said creative director Silas Adler, adding that in his native Denmark, “We have an exotic way of thinking about Manchester – like the Bahamas!”
Among the collection’s standouts were a bonded wool coat lined with technical nylon, its seams piped in a variety of colors;and an optical check suit and denim style jacket, both done in multi-colored printed jacquard. The brand also touted a straight-to-store collaboration with Lee that featured jeans with polka dot patches made from fabric remnants from the collection. It’s headed to London’s Goodhood boutique and Colette in Paris.
