Like many designers nostalgic for their student days this season, Masha Ma sent out “Collection P,” a punk-infused line inspired by her time spent living in London, “studying at Saint Martin’s, working for [Alexander] McQueen and all that.”
From a look pairing a black hoodie and asymmetric, two-layer pleated tartan skirt with fishnets and distressed platform boots to the super-fun foil-coated leathers resembling metallic candy wrappers, it was more about capturing the city’s notorious club-kid energy.
The designer combined her signature sharp tailoring with deconstructed elements like the gaping-open-wide jeans that unzipped all the way down the front. Pleated panels erupted on tartan suits strapped with body harnesses and ties bunching the legs, with a ring-collar leitmotif lending a fetishist vibe.
The ubiquitous message pieces included a white T-shirt marked “Adolescents,” and a black hoodie with the words “Ton Chien” (Your Dog, in English) running down the arm.
