Rebecca Taylor explored an “athletic moment” for fall, blurring the lines of dressy and casual in a chic, varied lineup. “I love the idea of wearing a sweatshirt with a ballgown skirt,” she said. “It’s really important that people are dressing high and low; always with that mix.”
Taylor delivered tons of pieces for her girl to play with, from floral-printed hoodies and smocked-waisted velvet trousers to a pink metallic leather miniskirt. Victoriana is a frequent touchstone for the label, and it turned up here in flouncy ruffled blouses — a staple in Taylor’s collections — as well as in a high-necked, floral-printed dress with puff sleeves.
During a walk-through, the designer noted that she wanted her women to feel powerful as well as beautiful. A few different takes on suiting — one in black pinstripes with ruffled trousers, and another version done in navy corduroy with pale blue florals — should serve her customer well.
