Japan-based Yukari Suda instilled a sense of calm and tranquility via her Pas de Calais fall collection. Inspired by the French region’s foggy, cloudy skies, the lineup featured duster coats and jackets in a linen that, when boiled, took on a puffy and rippled texture, to rustic effect. At first sight, the collection seemed perfectly subtle, even minimal, but a closer look revealed carefully thought out details and craft techniques, mostly of Japanese tradition, such as sand and ink dying.
Outerwear seemed a primary focus, with offerings varied both in materials and attention to detail: A beautiful soft cashmere robe, a gray wool cocoon coat (also shown in alpaca) and an impressive rabbit-fur jacket, which reversed into a rugged hunter-green jacket, were all paired up monochromatically with barely there linen trousers or dresses.
