“This was our first on-schedule show, so I wanted to make something really celebratory and create an eclectic mix of magic things,” said Phoebe English of her collection, which was filled with experimental layered dresses, skirts and trousers done in sheer black tulle. Many of the looks had exposed seams, some dotted with black glitter sequins that glistened as they caught the light. English said she was attracted to the chaos they created within the stiff tulle material.
The most innovative look in her lineup was a black fishnet sheath dress woven through with velvet rope in a contemporary take on a 16th-century rug-making technique. It made for an interesting play on weight and texture.
