In the world of fashion, trends emerge and fade quickly, particularly among teenagers. Research firm Piper Sandler revealed its semiannual “Taking Stock With Teens” survey on Tuesday, pointing out the fashion staples that are declining among upper-income teens.
Among upper-income female teens, skinny jeans are the first trend “on the way out” with 19 percent opposing them. Stanley cups, which have experienced a boom in the wellness market in the past four years, appeared in second at 8 percent. Baggy/saggy pants and Crocs were tied at 6 percent, followed by hair trends, which also accounted for 6 percent of the choices.
Meanwhile, Crocs led the way as the least popular choice among upper-income male teens, with 12 percent choosing the footwear brand as a fashion trend “on the way out.” Skinny jeans came in second at 11 percent, followed by baggy/saggy pants at 8 percent. Nike/Jordans held the fourth position with 7 percent, and Ugg rounded out the top five with 5 percent.
