“Saturday Night Live” is the most Emmy-winning show in history, with 11 nominations in the Outstanding Costumes for a Variety, Nonfiction or Reality Programming category and one victory for costume designer Tom Broecker in 2014. Since 1975, the show has launched countless careers, catchphrases and, of course, memorable costumes that have inspired Halloween outfits everywhere.
Ahead of the show’s 50th-anniversary celebration, which will air on NBC on Sunday at 8 p.m. ET, WWD looks back at some of the most iconic costumes from “SNL” skits and characters, including looks from Kristen Wiig, Dan Aykroyd, Jane Curtin, Steve Martin, Amy Poehler, Mike Myers, Bill Hader and more.
