When Danessa Myricks decided to start her namesake makeup brand in 2015, she went straight to the beauty aisle at CVS Pharmacy, looking specifically for the Neutrogena section to better understand the non-negotiables of skin care. Ten years later, she’s launching her own specialized skin prep sets with the drugstore brand, a full-circle moment she never would’ve predicted.
“This collaboration is super organic and authentic,” Myricks told WWD. “Neutrogena’s been a part of my journey, just as a woman with my beauty journey, and it’s been a part of the very beginning stages of my career as an artist. This was a natural fit.”

Debuting exclusively at CVS and online at cvs.com on Aug. 31, Myricks’ skin care kits will feature a handful of Neutrogena’s bestselling products, including the Hydro Boost Hydrating Sheet Masks, the Hydro Boost Gel Cream, the Hyaluronic Acid Lip Oil and the Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes. The products will be separated into three packages: the Get Glam Ready Skin Prep Set, the Hydro Boost Hydro Gel Masks and the Makeup Remover Wipes.
This collaboration, Myricks said, was designed for all customers, makeup enthusiasts or not. “I speak to a lot of people, and a lot of them don’t even know where to start when it comes to skin care, and there’s a lot of confusion around routine,” she explained. “So, for me, I thought it was a really great opportunity to tell this universal story, this collection everybody can use, regardless of your skin type or your skin tone.”
Before Myricks used Neutrogena in the beginning stages of her brand, she used the product line to soothe and manage her own acne-prone skin. “That was a huge issue I had through my teens and even into my early 20s as an adult,” she said of her acne. “And so Neutrogena was a part of my routine.”

When asked about which two products out of the four she would recommend to first-time users, Myricks suggested either the Hydro Boost Gel Cream or the makeup wipes, a controversial choice amid ongoing debate over which is better: Micellar Water or the towelettes. The artist made her stance clear, debunking the myths about the makeup wipes in the process. “The wipes are special because they were clinically proven for gentleness, which, for me, is super important because what’s the point of taking care of your skin and then doing something abrasive to remove it? They also have this emollient blend that’s inside the wipe that leaves your skin nourished after,” she explained.
Though Myricks may not have designed the formulas behind these specific products, she’s become extremely familiar with the ingredients. Myricks’ brand identity is thus represented in this collaboration through her shared philosophy with Neutrogena and dedication to similar activities. “When you look at the complexion products that I create, the entire Yummy collection, Hyaluronic Acid is the base of all of it. I lean very heavily into skin hydration for every skin type. This collaboration is exactly that,” she said.
