Tyla‘s take on nautical dressing ushered in a new wave on the styling trend, wearing a design by George Trochopoulos for the 2025 Glamour Women of the Year Awards in London on Thursday night.
The Pandora ambassador, styled by Ron Hartleben, turned to Trochopoulos’ fall 2025 collection, donning an oyster shell-adorned bolero paired with a semi-sheer, black maxiskirt crafted with flexible material and featuring the stripe motif that’s become synonymous with the Greek designer’s creations.
Tyla’s bold look wholly centered her jacket, featuring shells with a shine of muted golds and silver throughout to accentuate the style and add contrasting tones to the overall look. The Grammy Award-winning singer opted to go topless beneath the jacket, heightening the overall look’s sensual appeal.

As for glam, Tyla’s makeup, by artist Ngozi Edeme, featured a rosy blush with statement eyes and a glossy lip. Her hair featured cornrows contrasted with a flowing, straight style by stylist Rachael Banjo. The singer topped off her look with gold chainlink earrings and a pair of strappy black heels.
For Trochopoulos, gravitating toward designs evocative of sensuality has always appealed to him. “I think no matter the style, color, size or texture, I’m very interested in making clothes that make people feel sexy,” the designer told WWD in December 2021. “Especially as a queer person who grew up in a non-queer space in a small town in Greece, it took me a very long time to feel sexy until, let’s say, this year. Sexiness is just something very important to me because it’s so correlated to freedom and euphoria, especially gender euphoria.”
Trochopoulos’ long-sleeve bolero jacket for Tyla offered a variation on the expansive boundaries of nautical dressing. It’s a trend seen on the runway before, notably from designer Dilara Fındıkoğlu.
Fındıkoğlu’s fall 2025 ready-to-wear collection also included oceanic-inspired pieces, designed with a structured silhouette and encrusted with shells. Actress Cate Blanchett memorably wore a piece from the aforementioned collection to the 2025 Serpentine Gallery Summer Party in June.
The 2025 Glamour Women of the Year Awards celebrated the trailblazers, activists, and culture-shifters who defined the last 12 months. Held at 180 Studios in central London, the event honored Tyla, Demi Moore, the women of Sugababes, Rachel Zegler, Adwoa Aboah, Hannah Hampton and The Dolls.
