Tessa Thompson opted for a refined, Matthieu Blazy-designed look by Chanel while out in New York City on Thursday.
The “Hedda” star, clad in a pair of dark cat-eye sunglasses, turned to the French luxury fashion house’s spring 2026 ready-to-wear collection for her attire. The skirt suit look was crafted with a textural fabric in shades of black, with lilacs, golds and grays throughout.
Golden buttons that lined the cuffs of the jacket’s long sleeves contrasted with the black lining of the waist pockets. Fringed fabric at the hem of the knee-length skirt gave the lok a deconstructed element. A sheer shirt with a rounded neckline nodded to the popular peekaboo bra trend.

Thompson paired her skirt suit with Chanel heels and a black bag for continuity. To accessorize, the actress donned metal-and-lambskin hoop earrings and a chain, double-row watch from the French luxury fashion house.
Chanel’s spring 2026 ready-to-wear collection hit the runway as part of Paris Fashion Week in October 2025. The curation marked designer Matthieu Blazy’s first as the new artistic director for the French luxury fashion house, taking over the role once held by Virginie Viard, who departed Chanel mid-2024.
The spring 2026 offering put Chanel “on a new orbit,” wrote Joelle Diderich in WWD’s review of the collection. Inspired by Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel’s classic design codes, Blazy put a spin on Chanel’s tweed suits with “frayed and fringed versions in cozy blanket textures,” much like the look Thompson wore in New York City on Thursday.
“Blazy said he wanted to convey an idea of freedom and borderless dressing. ‘We all look at the same sky. We all see the stars. There is something universal. It should also be beautiful and enjoyable, and this is what we have to propose also in fashion,” he said.
