Taraji P. Henson ignited the Ebony Power 100 Gala red carpet with theatrical flair in a look by Indonesian fashion designer Sebastian Gunawan on Tuesday night in Los Angeles.
The Oscar-nominated “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” star wore a long-sleeve structural gown with equal shares of suited inspiration and sheer dressing. Henson’s dress featured a tuxedo-influenced bodice, complete with white collar and a gold ribbon appliqué.
From the white bodice, the fabric of the Sebastian Gunawan design transitioned to black sheer fabric on the long sleeves and midsection of the frock, encrusted with glittering black crystals to add a touch of sparkle to the structured piece.

An angled drop waist gave way to a fitted dress with deconstructed styling, with folded fabric at the top and a slight slit at the front of the skirt, showcasing her Kurt Geiger-designed black pumps. As for accessories, Henson kept her jewelry fairly minimalist, favoring delicate earrings and rings by New York City-based brand Gabriel & Co. to complete her look.
For her glam, “The Color Purple” actress turned to Tym Wallace, who coiffed Henson’s pixie cut with thick wisps of hair to frame her face. Makeup highlights included smoky eyes, bold brows and a deep red lip provided by artist Saisha Beecham. Henson’s look was curated by styling team Wayman Bannerman and Micah McDonald.
