Taraji P. Henson was joined by filmmaker Tyler Perry during their joint appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” on Tuesday in New York City. The director and Oscar-nominated actress were on-hand to discuss their forthcoming film “Straw.”
For the late-night talk show appearance, Henson turned to the runway for her attire. The actress put a textural, contemporary spin on the little black dress with flashes of classic inspiration courtesy of designer Christian Siriano.

The dress included such elements as a cinched waist for added silhouette definition and featured a corseted element as well. Henson kept the dress as the centerpiece of her look, adding delicate pieces of jewelry, including rings and earrings. Her pixie cut hair was styled in a sleek look with makeup elements featuring bold brows, lined eyes and a glossy lip.
Siriano’s little black dress follows an ongoing trend of creative takes on the wardrobe staple. On Monday, Amanda Seyfried styled a little black dress by Rabanne with a bevy of fringe details. Back in May 2024, Sydney Sweeney wore a little black dress from Miu Miu’s fall 2024 ready-to-wear collection that featured hip cutouts.
Siriano’s fall 2025 ready-to-wear collection was all about resistance, as noted by WWD’s Thomas Waller in a review of the collection. “The world has changed and Siriano wanted a bit of defiance on his runway, including a massive red cloak that was a direct nod to the final season of ‘The Handmaid’s Tale,'” Waller wrote.
“He collaborated with Hulu to design a custom piece that has been used as a sign of protest in the fight for women’s rights worldwide. The protest idea was seen with a mix of his early red looks with cascading fabric that felt restrictive yet powerful.”
Henson stars in Perry’s “Straw,” about a single mother who goes to unimaginable lengths to secure a future for herself and her young daughter. The film costars Sherri Shepherd and Teyana Taylor. “Straw” releases on Netflix on Friday.
