Sarah Jessica Parker parted ways with her staple hairstyle on Wednesday night to channel an early 2000s aesthetic that’s highly controversial in the beauty world. The “Sex and the City” star, best known for serving wild curls as Carrie Bradshaw, stepped out for the “And Just Like That…” season three photocall at the Crane Club in New York City, donning a slicked side part and mermaid waves.
Parker, who reprises her “Sex and the City” role in the new Max original series, usually goes for a clean middle part, on and off screen. However, the actress switched it up and swept two-thirds of her hair over to the right side of her head. She did, however, keep her trademark coloring: bleach blonde highlights with dark brown undertones.

The style was crafted by her longtime glam partner, Serge Normant, whose celebrity client list also includes Demi Moore, Emma Roberts and Nicole Kidman. Normant was responsible for Parker’s elegant half up, half down hairdo for the New York City Ballet’s 2023 Fall Gala.
Parker’s side part harked back to the beauty trends of the 2010s, a pivotal time in the lives of many Gen Z-ers. Yet, not all look fondly upon it. In fact, a simple search for side part on TikTok will generate a range of videos debating whether the look is either cheugy or the comeback style of the century. It’s safe to say Parker would agree with the latter.
“Sex and the City” fans will remember there were only a few times Carrie Bradshaw wore a side part, most of which were in season five and the early episodes of season 6 when her hair was cut shorter than her shoulders. However, there were a few episodes in season three when her hair just barely toed the line of a side part.
On May 20, the Emmy Award-winning actress attended a special press conference for the upcoming season premiere at The Plaza Hotel, a prime attraction in Manhattan. There, Parker stuck to her middle part, messy waves and played with pattern clashing, wearing a button-up, floral midi dress under a turquoise jacket decoarted in white polka dots. For her shoes, she went with a peep-toe moment in the form of white cheetah-print, ankle strap heels. She finished the look off with two bags: a tote for function and a white shoulder bag for added oomph.
“And Just Like That…” season three is set to release on May 29, available on Max.
