Oprah Winfrey exuded a quiet luxury sensibility with black and white color blocking in Brunello Cucinelli for the American Ballet Theatre‘s fall 2025 gala in New York City on Wednesday night.
The former daytime talk show host and mogul turned to the Italian luxury fashion brand’s fall 2019 ready-to-wear collection for her attire. The dress included nods to tailoring, with a long-sleeve white bodice featuring sinuous lapels; a black layer of fabric was visible beneath the white at the neckline.
The skirt of Winfrey’s floor-length dress included an A-line silhouette, with a subtle slit at the front for an added touch of sensuality. At the waist, Winfrey’s dress featured a bold black ribbon wrapped element for a defined silhouette. The waist was tied with a bow, and long bands of fabric flowed down the skirt.

“Brunello Cucinelli succeeds in defining a distinctive, charming lifestyle rooted in effortless luxury. The fall collection, which the label presented in its renovated Milanese headquarters on Wednesday morning, perfectly reflected this peculiar aesthetic,” Alessandra Turra wrote in WWD’s review of the collection.
Throughout the collection, pieces “were peppered with rustic-chic details here and a sleeker, more urban twist there,” Turra wrote. Despite a few evening wear pieces, including the dress Winfrey wore on Wednesday night, the fall 2019 ready-to-wear collection was dominated by knitwear.
