On July 13, Netflix debuted “Survival of the Thickest,” a comedy starring “First Wive’s Club” actress Michelle Buteau as a plus-sized stylist navigating her thirties in New York City, following an untimely breakup. The series, which also stars Tone Bell, Garcelle Beauvais and Tasha Smith, is loosely based on Buteau’s collection of personal essays of the same name. Set in New York City, the show marries humorous punchlines with streetwear-inspired fashion moments.
