Carrie Underwood opted for a designer loved by the likes of Kate Middleton and Kate Winslet for her appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” on Wednesday in New York City. The country singer was joined by her fellow “American Idol” judges, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan, ahead of the reality competition series’ upcoming season.
Underwood opted for the Nessa minidress from the label’s spring 2025 ready-to-wear collection. The black mini featured all-over, ornately designed embellishments, including a bevy of sequins and crystals.
Along with the allover shimmering fixtures, the Jenny Packham design featured sharp shoulders and dramatically draped sleeves that flowed like a train behind Underwood. As for the rest of her ensemble, the “Jesus Take the Wheel” singer wore a pair of black pointed-toe pumps with crystal embellishments.

When it came to her glam, Underwood styled her long blond tresses with a middle part and natural waves. Her makeup included a bold smokey eye and a glossy lip. Accessories weren’t a major part of Underwood’s ensemble, favoring instead to keep her Jenny Packham-designed look the focal point of her attire.
Packham is a longtime favorite designer of Kate Middleton. The Princess of Wales has worn pieces by the London-based designer for several years, and her global influence has reached other members of European royalty and international film stars.
On Feb. 28, Queen Mary of Denmark wore the same dress the Princess of Wales styled for a reception at Buckingham Palace in December 2023. Kate Winslet has also become a fan of Jenny Packham’s designs, wearing suited looks and a gown by the designer during her “Lee” promotional tour in 2024.
Underwood joins Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan as the new judge on “American Idol,” following Katy Perry’s departure. The long-running reality competition series’ latest season premieres Sunday on ABC.
