Macy’s Inc. gave its regards to Broadway Thursday night when it hosted a cocktail party at its flagship to celebrate the 2015-16 theater season.
The event, which was held just days before Sunday’s telecast of the Tony Awards, also served to shine a spotlight on the men of the stage. Hosted in collaboration with the Broadway Style Guide, Macy’s men’s fashion director Durand Guion and New York One theater and entertainment reporter Frank DiLella acted as emcees for the evening. Nibbles and conversation at the Stella restaurant on the sixth floor were followed by a runway show in the men’s department that featured several actors as models. The event started early to give all of the performers, producers and executives time to grab a cocktail and some snacks before the curtain went up.
“We’re celebrating Tonys week with a real emphasis on men’s style,” Guion said. “And what better models than the guys who lead on and off Broadway?” He “pulled from the best brands from throughout the store,” Guion said, both private-label and national brands, from the current season. “We’re thrilled to find an opportunity to do something with men.”
