On the field, Sanders Commings is an enforcer, serving as a defensive back for the Kansas City Chiefs. But when he’s not playing, he’s just a kid at heart.
In fact, he serves as co-owner of Young Hearted Socks, whose tagline is: “Quality Socks for Your Inner Kid.”
To mark the start of the back-to-school season, Young Hearted Socks is offering up a sock woven with 24-karat gold and merino wool called the Honeycomb.
The American-made midcalf sock uses merino wool and nylon spandex to ensure they stay up and there’s a gram of gold in the weave that creates a texture not found in ordinary knitwear. The socks are breathable, soft, and offer moisture-wicking attributes.
The company will release only 50 pairs of the Honeycomb socks in early October but is taking preorders on its Web site. The preordered socks will retail for $120 and the price will go up to $150 when released publicly.

Commings said that 10 percent of the proceeds from the sale of the socks will be donated to the Atlanta Children’s Shelter to help buy back-to-school supplies and other essentials for kids in need.
