MILAN — Poliform chief executive officer Giovanni Anzani has handed over the reins to second-generation family member Marco Spinelli.
Spinelli, 42, told WWD that the first months of 2026 were showing positive results despite the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. So far, its Dubai store is open and operating.
Based in the heart of Brianza, the northern Italian furniture district, the company was founded by three cousins, Anzani and Alberto and Aldo Spinelli in 1970 and has been in expansion mode.
In 2025, sales rose about 5 percent to 350 million euros, driven in part by contract projects, making Poliform one of the largest family-run furniture companies in Italy. Marco Spinelli said there are no plans yet to halt expansion in the Middle East.

“We are continuing to work on major projects in the region. Retail has slowed down due to the geopolitical situation, but we are waiting to see what happens. The longer it continues, the more complicated the impact on global inflation and the economy may be. Despite this, our 2026 started incredibly well with great expectations, but we are cautious given current uncertainties,” he said looking to the rest of the year.
The U.S. is Poliform’s largest single market. Italy also remains a top market, alongside the U.S. and China. “Overall, we are well-distributed internationally, with 120 flagships worldwide. This year, we have important openings planned in Rome, Madrid, Riyadh, Abu Dhabi, Seoul, Buenos Aires and Belgrade, Serbia.
“We are also renovating our store in New York,” he said, adding that Poliform extended to the entire third floor for more showroom space, and took over an additional floor for headquarters offices. “The newly renovated store will open in September and will be a significant milestone for the U.S. market.”
China expansion reached a peak with a total of 25 flagships. “It’s quite a lot. We have headquarters in Beijing, Poliform China, with a team of 10 people dedicated to providing services to all our flagship stores.”
In terms of contract projects, Poliform just completed the renovation of the Four Seasons Hotel in Milan and has been tapped to outfit the Four Seasons in Venice, which is known as the famous Hotel Danieli. “It’s absolutely beautiful, incredible. I was just in Venice to see the construction site, and it’s amazing to witness. Logistically, it’s a challenge since Venice is on the water, so transporting all our products isn’t easy,” he said.
In terms of residential and office space, Poliform just completed the Flatiron building in New York, and is working on furnishing the new offices of Campari in Milan on Corso Europa.
A testament to the prowess of the design industry, luxury furniture brand Poliform has taken over one of fashion‘s most iconic addresses: Trussardi‘s former home in Milan’s ritzy Piazza della Scala, which was previewed by the press on Tuesday.
The aim is to showcase the Poliform lifestyle experience with a new three-story retail space that will house a café in the outdoor area on the ground floor. The architectural design was led by Stefano Belingardi Clusoni, who moved beyond the traditional concept of retail spaces, bringing to life a contemporary setting where living, kitchen and bedroom areas are in connection with each other.
The late family patriarch Nicola Trussardi, who propelled the family’s business in the 1980s and ‘90s, opened Palazzo Trussardi near the La Scala theater in 1996 as one of the first concept stores in the world, merging fashion retail with food, while also serving as an exhibition space for artists and architects. The Trussardi company was acquired by Gruppo Miroglio in 2024 and the building was not part of the transaction, so Poliform rents the space from the Trussardi family.
Ushering in a New Era
During Milan Design Week, which kicks off Monday, Poliform will showcase its first collaboration with New York- and Toronto-based firm Yabu Pushelberg. Glenn Pushelberg and George Yabu will present Lanai, a sculptural bed conceived as the centerpiece of the night area.
Looking ahead, Spinelli said the world and the furniture business are changing rapidly.
“Poliform is a solid company with many opportunities for consolidation,” he said.
Spinelli helms Poliform, alongside his cousins, including Poliform’s U.S. CEO and president Laura Anzani, daughter of Giovanni Anzani.
Spinelli explained that there is potential for new initiatives like integrating technology, artificial intelligence and expanding into a more global brand. One example is the Poliform Café, which represents a step in that direction. “I’m optimistic about tackling the future despite current geopolitical challenges.”
