EBay Inc. on Wednesday launched its “When it’s on your mind, it’s on eBay” campaign targeting the mobile shopper.
The company said it expects to exceed $4 billion in mobile sales by yearend.
The advertising campaign, aimed at the “on-demand” shopper who researches and makes purchases anywhere and anytime, was created by Venables Bell & Partners. The key theme is “Buy it new. Buy it now.” EBay said at any given time it has more than 200 million live listings, in which 62 percent are fixed price and 70 percent are new products.
The company plans to run six 30-second spots on national cable television. The spots show people using apps to make their online purchases at eBay.
On Oct. 17, the campaign will feature ads using custom Quick Response (QR) codes for access using eBay’s RedLaser scanning technology.
