Wale Is Getting a Collaboration on Nike’s Most Futuristic New Basketball Sneaker

The G.T. Future quickly follows his first Nike collab on the Goadome.

Nike tapped Wale as one of the first people to wear the G.T. Future during NBA All-Star Weekend in February, and as the year comes to a close, the rapper is getting an edition of the futuristic basketball sneaker to call his own.

The Wale x Nike G.T. Future channels the love one of hip-hop’s most famed sneakerheads has for Foamposites. A molded upper connects the contemporary basketball sneaker with its predecessor from 2007 and is rendered in “Photo Blue” for Wale’s pair. No marks on the sneaker itself connect it with him, but Wale’s name does come on a removable iridescent keychain that matches the Swoosh branding throughout.

Aside from his sneaker choices, Wale has touted his sneaker credentials throughout his career in music. His 2007 song “Nike Boots” espouses the significance of the Goadome in his native DMV area, a region that’s also known for its embrace of Foamposites. Eighteen years later, Wale got his first official Nike collaboration on the very same model.

Aside from its dynamic upper, the model packs a Cushlon 3.0 midsole with a full-length Zoom strobel and forefoot Air Zoom unit.

The Wale x Nike GT Future will release on Saturday exclusively through select Foot Locker locations. Pricing is set at $200.
