Travis Scott Wore Unexpected Sneakers That Weren’t Jordans to the Apple iPhone 17 Event

The rare pair was commissioned by Apple in the mid-1990s.

All eyes were on Cupertino, Calif., Tuesday for Apple’s annual event which included the reveal of the iPhone 17 and accessories. And while the new gadgets were the main attraction for many of the attendees and viewers, rapper and Jordan Brand collaborator Travis Scott found a way to put the focus on his footwear, but it wasn’t a pair of his Air Jordan shoes that had people talking.

The Cactus Jack brand leader showed up to Apple Park in a pair of rare mid-1990s Apple sneakers manufactured by Omega Sports. The pair worn by Travis Scott is a low-top white leather design reminiscent of the Reebok Workout Plus and features Apple text in red on its lateral side along with the brand’s rainbow-colored 1970s Apple Computer logo.

The pair worn by Travis Scott is one of a handful of Apple sneakers which frequently appear at auction houses and on Instagram moodboard accounts. Favored for both their obscurity and connection to Apple’s heyday, the look of the rare shoes has been imitated by sneaker customizers and designers including a 2019 collaboration between Boston-based retailer Concepts and French footwear brand Mephisto.

Along with Travis Scott, Tuesday’s event was attended by a variety of names including Mr. Beast, Armaan Malik, Yunho, Navya Naveli Nanda, Gabriel Moses and Verdy.

While Travis Scott’s Apple sneakers are increasingly difficult to track down, the artist has a new Air Jordan collaboration coming soon which will be more attainable.
