The blockbuster return of the “Galaxy” Foams has ushered in a wider resurgence for one of Nike‘s greatest innovations, with several brand-new colorways having either released or been leaked for both the Air Foamposite One and the lesser-known Air Flightposite. Fresh additions include the appearances of carbon fiber and chocolate, and joining them soon will be something glacial.

The Nike Air Foamposite One “Psychic Blue” makes the molded sneaker look as if it’s been carved out of ice. A translucent icy blue outsole, a mainstay of many sneakers for its ability to combat yellowing, carries over to this brand-new colorway — but the effect doesn’t end there. The upper’s namesake color nearly mirrors that of the upper to strengthen the chilly display.

Keeping in line with many other Air Foamposite One editions, black is then used for the upper’s non-Foamposite pieces, including the tongue, eyestays and mustache.

Launched in 1997, the Air Foamposite One has just one original colorway in “Royal, which was an unofficial signature sneaker for Penny Hardaway. The sneaker introduced Foamposite technology, which creates a single-piece molded upper by pouring liquid polyurethane into an “envelope” and applying pressure and heat.

Nike had to shell out a lot of money to develop the tech, with each mold outsourced to the Korean car manufacturer Daewoo and reportedly costing $750,000 a piece. Inevitably, this meant a high price for consumers, limiting the shoe’s appeal in its initial run. The model has had better success after beginning its retro run in 2001, and every colorway added since outside of “Royal” is a non-original.

Many of the new variants would become certified classics, perhaps none more so then the “Galaxy” edition that made its triumphant in February, 13 years after it quite literally caused riots.

The Nike Air Foamposite One “Psychic Blue” will release May 2 through the Snkrs app and select third-party retailers. Pricing is set at $230.
