Jordan Brand Is Entering the Chat With Its Own Foam Clog Coming Soon

Launching not long after Nike's hit ReactX Rejuven8 recovery clog.

Crocs’ firm grasp on the territory of firm clogs has been under attack for the last five years because of the brand’s ascent, as most of the major players in footwear have put forth their own interpretations of the comfortable and affordable slip-ons.

And for as long as the trend has lasted, it may now be more contentious than ever thanks to the immediately successful launch of Nike’s ReactX Rejuven8 recovery shoe, which Crocs even called out on its Instagram story as evidence of the brand living “rent free” in the heads of Beaverton giant.

Debates over originality may continue to increase, as yet another foam clog from the Nike umbrella has emerged from Jordan Brand. It’s called the Jordan Hyrdrip, and at the moment is only available in kids’ sizes. Should adult pairs be on the way, too, which is very well possible, they may quickly garner their own rabid following.

Jordan’s Hydrip riffs on the familiar parameters of a foam clog with parallel side vents and hols cut out above the tongue. An adjustable nylon strap with velcro and padding carries Michael Jordan’s no. 23 on the heel as well as the elephant print made famous by the Jordan 3 for its rivets. The footbed then incorporates the elephant print with an even greater surface area and an added Jumpman. A circular bade near the lateral heel also carries the Jumpman, while a different (likely more durable) material is used for the outsole’s forefoot and heel.

Pink, blue, white and black colorways have all been shown exclusively in big kids’ and little kids’ sizes.

Foam clogs aren’t entirely unfamiliar for Jordan Brand, which has a Roam Slide that’s more clog-like than its name suggests, as well as the System.23 Clog with an inner bootie.

Nike’s ReactX Rejuven8, which is made with its namesake foam more typically appearing in running shoe, has sold out a large number of sizes and colorways since making its debut at the beginning of March. StockX reported it as the most traded model on its platform for the month with more than 10,000 pairs sold.

Later in the season, Nike will follow up the hit clog with a ReactX Rejuven8 Slide.

The Jordan Hyrdrip is out now in the black and pink colorways through Nike’s website. Pricing is set at $45 for big kids’ sizes and $40 for little.
