And Wander and Altra have come together to reimagine a rugged trail running shoe that outdoor adventurers and the style savvy alike are sure to enjoy.
Available now online and in stores is the And Wander x Altra Timp 5 Boa.
In a statement, Altra shared that it found common ground with And Wander, a fashionable Japanese outdoor and sportswear brand, specifically their shared interests in outdoor functionality often and design simplicity.
“We didn’t set out to make a statement piece,” Altra brand president Jennifer McLaren said in a statement. “The mountains have always been our laboratory. With And Wander, we found partners who understand that technical innovation, like a well-worn trail, reveals itself through necessity rather than novelty.”

For the collaboration, they opted for granite gray uppers, which Altra explained was “a deliberate choice that mirrors the alpine landscapes where both brands test their gear.” Also, the look features reflective elements that are only visible when hit with light.
In terms of tech, the highlight is the Boa Fit System with burrito-style construction. The look also features Vibram Megagrip outsoles and precision-engineered mesh uppers. It is also built with Altra’s zero-drop platform that promotes natural alignment.
“Partnering with Altra was a natural choice for us. As designers who are deeply passionate about blending fashion with the beauty of nature, we saw a shared commitment to innovation and performance with Altra,” And Wander designer and founder Keita Ikeuchi said in a statement. “This collaboration with Altra allows us to bring our vision of fashion in the mountains to life. Together, we aim to create a sophisticated trail running shoe that not only can perform, but also look elevated on the streets.”
The And Wander x Altra Timp Boa is available in women’s and men’s sizing and retails for $200. It can be picked up via Altrarunning.com, Andwander.com and at select premium retailers including End. Clothing, West NYC and ETC Seoul.
Though Altra is an infrequent collaborator, its latest with And Wander isn’t its lone collaborative project in recent months. For instance, Altra teamed up with Italian footwear and apparel brand Roa on the Timp 5 GTX trail running shoe in December 2024.
Speaking with FN at the time of the Roa release, McLaren revealed why Altra was making collaboration more of a priority: “Our awareness is still fairly low as a challenger brand in the space, so this really allows us to reach new consumers and be able to tell our story to them. It also gives our core consumers something that they’ve been wanting from the brand, too, because it has a really cool style to it.”
