Tracee Ellis Ross gave her feet a rest by skipping her usual high heels altogether for a recent appearance. The actress slipped into the low-profile loafer trend for the Inc. Founders House Los Angeles event in Santa Monica, Calif., on Tuesday.

Ross was business-ready in Versace‘s Guanto Leather Loafers in brown, which retail for $995 and are also available in black. The Guanto leather loafers are crafted in an unlined construction from supple vegetable-tanned calf leather. The brand says the leather shoes were designed to develop a natural patina, offer a soft hand feel, and were hand-treated with a washing-and-buffing process to achieve a vintage texture.

The pair is accented with gold 3D Medusa hardware on the vamp and set on an ultra-soft leather sole, which adds to the shoe’s lightness and flexibility. The shoes feature a slip-on design with a round toe adorned with a hand-stitched seam around the top of the toe box, creating a classic moccasin-style look. The shoes also have a penny strap over the vamp and an elastic strap on the inside.

While the versatile loafers can be styled casually or dressed up for more formal events, Ross paired hers with a boxy, oversized blazer in gray and gray dress shorts with a high waist. She wore a knotted belt that matched the loafers cohesively and accessorized with black sheer stockings and oversized silver earrings.

While loafers are a footwear staple, slimmer low-profile loafers have been all the rage as of late as part of the ballet flat, low-profile sneaker trend that’s currently overtaking the shoe industry. Similar minimalist styles by The Row and Khaite have become a favorite for celebrities, including Kendall Jenner and Hailey Bieber, as they show off their model off-duty looks.

The shoes are a departure for Ross, who is a self-proclaimed lover of high heels, especially the Christian Louboutin So Kate pumps, which she said she once purchased as her wedding shoe, even though she didn’t have any plan to marry on the horizon.
