When it comes to her fashion choices, Rita Ora is unpredictable, to say the least. And the pop star has brought that same penchant for rule-breaking to her long-standing collaboration with Adidas. (Case in point: Their most recent footwear and apparel collection, on sale now at Adidas.com, took inspiration from death-defying trapeze artists.)
Here, Ora shares with FN some of her fashion obsessions and why she doesn’t care what Rihanna and Kanye West are doing:
Her biggest fashion inspirations:
“I was obsessed with punk [when I was younger], with bands like the Circle Jerks and GBH and GG Allin. What I was obsessed with was the lifestyle — how they lived and what they gave off. Because for me, it’s about the lifestyle. It’s about fitting into your own skin and killing it, even if you’re wearing a bin bag.”

Sneaker obsessions:
“I have a garage full of sneakers that I’ve collected over the past 10 years — literally going to the ceiling. I used to be a crazy sneakerhead. That’s why I worked at the Size sneaker store so I could spend all my money to buy sneaks. Then I was like, it’s time to grow up. Now I’m one of those people who brush the dust off their trainers.”
Launching her own brand:
“I’d like to do my own one day, maybe. But I can’t even tell you right now what it would look like. I haven’t started thinking about it.”
Keeping an eye on other celebrity designers:
“I don’t watch what other people are doing at all. I just keep my mind on myself, if that makes sense without sounding selfish. I try not to get distracted by what’s going on around me.”
Today’s fashion trends:
“I feel like, especially for my generation, the more effortless the better. Fashion is moving into so much more of an approachable state.”
