The actress was on hand to present the designer with the award, and she took the stage wearing Herbert Levine Cover-up patent leather slingback pumps, which retail for $985 at Saks Fifth Avenue. The slingback pumps feature a minimalist design with a slick patent calf leather upper and a metal heel measuring about 3.25 inches.

The shoes feature a pointed-toe design and high vamp, which lands halfway through the foot, creating a unique silhouette. The shoes were partly obscured by Holmes’ trousers but a hint of her feet could be seen while she posed on the red carpet. She paired the heels with a custom GapStudio black tuxedo-style suit paired with a plunging corset top, designed by Posen.

The gala took place at Gotham Hall, with the Council of Fashion Designers of America serving as the event’s charitable beneficiary. Emmy Award-winning journalist and contributor to “CBS News Sunday Morning” Alina Cho was the night’s emcee. FN was in attendance for the ceremony and during her speech, the actress looked back on Posen’s career and how he took the “fashion world by storm” early on in his journey as a designer, starting from when he was a child.

“His parents encouraged his creativity. He draped his first dress over a champagne cork at 4, and his mother taught him to sew when he was 6. By 16, he was an intern at the Costume Institute,” Holmes said at the event.
