Anya Taylor-Joy’s Red Carpet Shoe Style Evolution

Though Anya Taylor-Joy has been hitting red carpets for years, it was in 2020 with Netflix film “The Queen’s Gambit” that she became a serious player in the fashion conversation. Portraying a young chess player on screen, she turned on the glamour courtesy of then stylist Law Roach on red carpets. This meant gowns like a custom Christian Dior emerald green gown made of lurex fabric paired with glittering pointed-toe pumps. It also meant a pink 1960s Christian Dior frock paired with a pair of satin pointed-toe pink stiletto pumps. But in the time since that debut, Taylor-Joy’s red carpet choices have diversified, ranging from the most classic to pretty edgy.

That edginess came namely by way of the actor’s press tour for “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.” Working with stylist Ryan Hastings, the performer kept the classics in rotation like a suede Christian Louboutin black So Kate pump for the UK premiere. But she also layered in some sexier styles like a practically invisible Aquazzura slingback for a red carpet in Australia. Most notably though she added edge: for a photocall in London she chose a pair of studded black leather platform Maison Margiela boots from the brand’s fall 2016 couture collection.

Over the years she’s flexed her fashion bonafides, posing in a Jaeger-LeCoultre campaign in addition to ink a deal as an ambassador for Christian Dior and a face of Tiffany & Co.

Here is a look at her red carpet evolution.
