Billy Porter’s Retro Metallic Boots Brought the Disco Era Back on ‘Late Night With Seth Meyers’

Billy Porter channeled the disco era through his metallic silver boots on Thursday’s episode of “Late Night With Seth Meyers,” which was shot in New York City. For an appearance to celebrate his Broadway return after a nine-year hiatus, the actor slipped into a pair of groovy shoes featuring a block heel, platform sole and metallic sheen — all the qualities from the 1970s disco fashion.

Porter opted for a pair of pointed-toe high-heeled boots that feature a slight square toe. The heel measured around three inches and featured a block design. The metallic shoe trend hasn’t died down over the summer, with metallic shoes, heels and sandals having a big preference at events like the 2025 Royal Ascot.

Porter is known to be a fan of high-heels shoes, especially boots. The performer prefers a shoe with a tall heel, a chunky sole and a platform, which he often pairs with extravagant and over-the-top ensembles.

Porter has been ahead of the game, with shoes featuring a slightly high heel, and women-inspired styles like ballerina flats are now trending among men. Stars like Bad Bunny, A$AP Rocky, Pedro Pascal and more have all been spotted leaning into the trend in recent months.

For his late night appearance on Thursday, Porter went for a golden, mustard yellow suit. The suit jacket was a single-breasted design in a lustrous golden-yellow fabric, likely silk or satin, featuring a notched lapel and button details on the cuffs. He paired it with matching, fitted pants.

Porter was also on the show to talk about the launch of his beauty line Black Mona Lisa Beauty, which is named after his fifth studio album. The new collection features a range of lightweight products, including collagen and retinol serums, a kale face cleanser, eye cream, liquid lipsticks and liquid eye shimmers.

“I feel like this first outing [of the brand] is about exploration. It’s about people who want to just simply explore,” Porter told WWD about his new line. “It is about identifying who you really are and understanding deep within one’s soul that you are worthy and having no fear to proclaim that yourself.”

Porter will star on Broadway’s “Cabaret” alongside Marisha Wallace, who will play Emcee and Sally Bowles, respectively. The pair will be on the show for 13 weeks only, with their final Broadway performance taking place in October.
