The mesh footwear trend is still going strong this fall — at least, according to internet sensation Alix Earle. On Tuesday night, Earle grabbed dinner with a friend and fellow social media Jake Shane at Los Angeles celebrity hot spot Funke, where she arrived in Saint Laurent’s Missy sandals.
Retailing for $1,100, the shoes are defined by dainty semi-sheer tulle straps across the toes and on both sides of the foot, which contrast against the edgy leather trim and towering 110mm skinny heel. A buckle strap around the ankle added a practical element to the shoes. Meanwhile, the rounded pointy toe provided even more visual intrigue. Contemporary brands like Tony Bianco and Reformation currently offer nearly identical-looking mesh heels.
Mesh shoes have been at the forefront of fashion for years now. The trend kicked off in 2018 with the birth of Bottega Veneta’s square-toe, mesh pumps, which debuted in the brand’s pre-fall 2019 collection designed by then-creative director Daniel Lee. The following year, The Row launched its mesh flats, popularizing the beloved silhouette. Even now, the see-through footwear phenomenon shows no signs of ceasing.

Earle teamed the mesh pumps with a body-hugging olive green minidress with lace trimming. Featuring a ribbed knit fabric, the number was styled underneath a black oversized leather jacket for a striking texture juxtaposition. The “Dancing With the Stars” contestant forwent accessories altogether, finishing the evening-out ensemble with her long blond hair styled in a wavy half-up, half-down look and a bold smoky eye.
Shane, meanwhile, coordinated with Earle in a brown leather jacket. The “Therapuss” talk show host kept it casual by pairing the outerwear with black jeans and Dior’s white and silver B30 Tech sneakers.
