EXCLUSIVE: As Gen Z Leads Mall Resurgence, Vivaia Gets in on the Action

The company plans to open 10 new stores in the U.S. this year.

Vivaia’s store growth plans for 2026 are pushing forwarding with the opening of two new mall-based locations just outside of New York City.

On Monday, the eco-friendly footwear brand opened the doors to a 650-square-foot store at Roosevelt Field Mall in Garden City, N.Y. The new store features a “warm, welcoming design with textured beige walls inspired by wabi sabi principles of simplicity, asymmetry and imperfection,” the company noted. Light wood toned furniture, minimal design, and curated lighting, alongside a “Healing Garden” display are highlights of the store’s aesthetic.

“The U.S. is our most important market and a key driver of our online growth, so expanding beyond New York is a natural next step,” said Jeff Chan, co-founder of Vivaia, said in a statement. “By combining strong digital momentum with physical retail, we’re able to serve more customers and bring our comfort-driven, eco-friendly products closer to them.”

These two openings follow the debut of Vivaia’s first U.K. retail store in September. Located inside the Westfield London shopping center, the new store was a “natural choice” for Vivaia as the company noted that London surpassed New York as its top performing city in terms of sales in 2024.

Since launching in 2020 as a DTC brand founded by footwear industry veteran Marina Chen and Chan, Vivaia has seen rapid growth, with a major footprint also in Asia. In 2025, the brand surpassed 75 stores worldwide, with offline retail doubling year-over-year and strong traffic at its SoHo location.

In 2026, the brand plans to expand to 130 stores globally, sustaining growth across Asia, Europe, and the United States. In the U.S., Vivaia noted that it plans to open 10 new locations this year across New York, New Jersey, California, and Florida.
