Modern airport amenities might span free Wi-Fi to nine-hole golf courses, but only the Portland International Airport has a carpet with a cult following.
The blue and green printed carpet from the 1980s is being replaced this year. As a celebratory goodbye, Portland-based shoe company Keen has produced a limited edition Yogui PDX slip-on feature the PDX carpet print.
The injected molded EVA clog features a non-marking rubber outsole and a textured footbed that lightly massages feet. The women’s style retails for $60. Keen will host a release party on Friday at the Keen Garage in Portland, with an appearance by PeeDee, the PDX carpet mascot.
Keen is just the latest company to mark the iconic carpet’s farewell with special merchandise. The Athletic launched commemorative socks and water bottles decorated with the print. The Portland Timbers, the city’s Major League Soccer team, released an exclusive scarf.
