Foot Locker, Asics Tiger and Pensole Announce Student Design Competition

Foot Locker is tapping into the next generation of footwear designers by partnering with Pensole Footwear Design Academy and Asics Tiger for its first “Fueling the Footwear” course.

From July 13-31, 18 students in six teams with skills encompassing design, engineering, materials and business will participate in a class-based contest to create a new collection for Asics Tiger. The winning team, which will be chosen by Foot Locker, Asics and industry executives, as well as the professor of the course, Pensole founder, D’Wayne Edwards, will receive a $12,000 scholarship and see their winning design be sold at select Foot Locker locations.

Edwards said, “The future of the footwear industry is reliant upon hands-on learning, and the training of tomorrow’s design and business leaders. With the partnership of Foot Locker, Pensole makes it possible for those students to hone their craft and prepare themselves for their professional careers.”
