Cleto Sagripanti, president of the Assocalzaturifici footwear trade association and the Micam shoe fair in Milan, is now also president of the European Confederation of the Footwear Industry (CEC), following a general assembly vote by the group’s members yesterday in Istanbul.
Sagripanti is taking over the role from Jean-Pierre Renaudin, who is president of the Fédération Française de la Chaussure and will focus on that position full-time.
“As president of the CEC, I will certainly continue the international initiatives undertaken by Jean-Pierre, trying to consolidate the strength and unity of European companies,” Sagripanti said, adding: “To that effect, I will work to support Europe’s re-shoring strategies, to promote equal, competitive access to markets and a better legislative setting for our small- and medium-sized firms.”
Sagripanti has been an outspoken advocate for mandatory product of origin labeling in Europe, an issue many in the footwear industry strongly favor.
