Womenswear Designer Christine Alcalay Launches Footwear

The Brooklyn-based designer is launching her first shoe collection on March 27.

Christine Alcalay, the Brooklyn-based womenswear designer, is expanding categories. On March 27, she will launch her footwear collection featuring two styles.

Known for her signature tailored women’s suiting and separates, this mark’s Alcalay’s first foray into shoes.

“It all started on my first trip to Peru,” she told FN. “I came across a small, family-owned shoe manufacturer and was immediately intrigued by their craftsmanship and the impeccable quality of their shoes. For me, everything begins with quality and relationships — two pillars that guide my design process.”

After meeting with the factory in Lima, Alcalay and her team spent the past year refining her collection’s two main shoe silhouettes: the Masha, an open-back leather mule, and the Lucille, a braided leather slingback heel. The prices range from $395 to $429.

“When designing this collection, I thought about the shoes I always turn to, the ones that effortlessly take me from place to place, offering both comfort and versatility without sacrificing elegance,” she added. “What excites me most about footwear is the opportunity to shape the full look — creating shoes that not only complete an outfit but also support the way women move through their day. I want each design to feel intentional.”

The slingback, for instance, is designed with intricate hand-braided detailing and seen in red and cream colorways, while the peep-toe mule is offered in light blue and shell. The tones were designed to complement both this season’s collection and past Christine Alcalay pieces.

This is just the start said the independent designer. “This first launch set the foundation, but I’m already thinking about what comes next. I’m developing the perfect flat — one that’s effortless but polished, something you can slip into daily without a second thought,” she added, noting that a boot is also on the horizon.

“I see footwear as an essential part of the CA world — shoes that don’t just complement my clothing but stand on their own as pieces that women cherish,” she said.

Christine Alcalay’s footwear will be available exclusively at Christine Alcalay stores and at ChristineAlcalay.com.
