Adidas and the Boston Athletic Association (BAA), the organizer of the Boston Marathon, announced the launch of the Boston Marathon RunBase, an informal meeting place for athletes to take part in community runs, informal runs and hear from expert speakers and elite athletes. The RunBase, in partnership with Marathon Sports, Inc., will also offer training plan assistance and nutrition education.
Located at the 26-mile mark of the marathon course on Boyle Street, the RunBase will be open year-round. The 2,000-square-foot center will feature displays drawn from BAA’s archives, exhibiting race bibs, medals, trophies, and jackets. There will be a large cast of a unicorn, which is an iconic symbol of the marathon, and a 10-foot 3-D topographic animated race map made of reclaimed wood.
Visitors can also run on a treadmill with a simulator will allows them to run any part of the racecourse with accompanying visuals and terrain.
