NEW YORK — Fabric manufacturers are shifting to light, lively and transparent themes for warm-weather dressing.
They have been offering apparel makers a mixed medley of fabrics that are right for light layering, item dressing and softly constructed silhouettes.
Among the bevy of trends are:
- Gauzes, knitted or woven in neutrals and white.
- Burnt-out knits.
- Linen and linen-look sheers and crepes with twist-yarns.
- Brushed ombre plaids.
- Frosted-look jaspe crinkle knits, crinkle dobbies and prints.
- Fluffy acrylic and blend open-work sweater knits resembling mohair and angora.
- Matte-and-shine yarns for contrast and texture.
- Metallic surfaces with minimal luster.
- Banana and other pale hints of color for romantic florals that almost look faded — or bold florals on black- or red-ground crepes and voiles.
