Thermore is taking recycled fiber seriously, building on its sustainability goals and adding to the ranks of other manufacturers that are turning to recycled materials to create fibers and fabrics.
The Milan-based insulation specialist said it has as now converted its entire Ecodown product line to fully recycled fiber content derived exclusively from PET water bottles.
Thermore said this allows the reuse of a considerable number of post-consumer bottles that would have otherwise ended up as waste in landfills. Depending on the application, outerwear insulated with Ecodown can save up to 10 bottles per garment, the company noted.
In addition, the new Ecodown 100 percent recycled thermal insulation does not require special quilting restrictions or fabrics and can be washed or dry cleaned. This high level of durability equates to long-term warmth over the life of a garment, the company said. The insulation is available in a wide variety of weights and thickness options, catering to a variety of design requirements.
Thermore said it has long been at the forefront in developing durable and resistant thermal insulation with a strong emphasis on sustainability. In the mid-Eighties, Thermore introduce a thermal insulation made from recycled fibers from PET bottles and it has mastered the use of recycled fibers over the last 30 years.
