What a match. Serena Williams and Novak Djokovic attended the Giorgio Armani show Friday, both in town for the charity tennis tournament Djokovic & Friends. While feeling it was so “cool” to help others, Williams conceded she had squeezed in some shopping. “It was so much fun,” she said.
Shortly before, Armani talked about the fashion system, urging people to focus on the products and to do away with superexpensive events for the sake of it, “otherwise the stores become smaller” and companies have to deal with shrinking numbers. While admitting a general slowdown in the economy, the designer, who is also chairman of his namesake company, said that in 2016 the “surprises were contained.”
“When China was booming, I said from the beginning we should be careful and that we shouldn’t [put all our eggs in one basket].” With his arms and hands stretched out, he said: “Calm, we should stay calm.” He also said we “should preserve this world as much as possible, not only for ourselves but for those that will follow us. It’s excruciating not to be able to return to visit Libya, for example, but this is the world we live in.”
