The Kenzo show turned to a classic Parisian location, Maxim’s Art Nouveau restaurant, for a smaller, intimate show of eclectic wares.
The front row, or rather velvet chairs and table seating, brought in a crowd to match.
B.J. Novak was attending his first Paris Fashion Week — though not his first time in Paris — and finding himself unexpectedly recognized on the streets since “The Office” has had a recent resurgence of popularity in France.
“I think it’s having [a resurgence] in France right now, based on walking around,” he said of his hit show, which has been off the air for a decade. “Last time I was in Paris, it was very rare that anyone recognized me, but this time it’s pretty omnipresent.”

The actor was in a jinbei-style jacket, undone and loose. “I feel like such a tourist to it,” he said of the fashion show world. “It’s dazzling. The combination of it being Paris and it being this high aesthetic world makes it really interesting to me. And I don’t do any work, you know, I just sit down and look at it,” he joked.
“I like low key fashion for myself. It’s like Halloween. I don’t like getting in costume, but I love that everyone else does. So I usually wear the minimum costume that lets me go trick or treating with the kids,” he said, comparing fashion week to the holiday.
Novak had also attended the Auralee show earlier in the week and praised the Japanese brand’s minimalistic style with interesting cuts and color. Despite being surrounded by fashion week regulars, he joked that he’s still innocent. “I think fashion shows are cool. I’m not jaded,” he said.
A few seats away sat “Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning” star Pom Klementieff. She’s loved the brand for ages, and wore Kenzo to the film’s Tokyo premiere.
The French star spent some of her childhood in Kyoto. She spoke Japanese at the time, but said she sadly can’t remember much of it.
Following all the promotion for the (alleged) last “Mission” film — including her big Cannes premiere — Klementieff is not planning to return to set any time soon. Instead she’s off for an adventurous skydiving trip in Norway.
“It’s about taming your brain and convincing yourself that it’s gonna be OK, and with training and learning you get better and then get more confidence,” she said.
She’s recently been wind tunnel training with pro friends. She added that when you look down, you have to imagine that you are in another world.
“It feels like it’s CGI when you do it, you know?” she said. “But I love training my brain. It’s not just physical, but it’s very mental.”
