The 2021 SAG awards mark the last major virtual red carpet of the season (with the upcoming Oscars promising to be held in person). Although held digitally, the fashion message jumped through the screen with lots of bold colors and creative black ties. From Viola Davis’ lime green column dress to Glen Close’s bright red maxi gown, an uplifting message was everywhere. And the fashion was not only from the women: some of the men also opted for bright colors and a good dose of Seventies retro references, like Josh O’Connor in the brown Loewe suit. Here, the best dressed nine looks from the night.

Kelvin Harrison Jr. in Gucci

Glenn Close in Oscar de la Renta

Leslie Odom Jr in Berluti

Emma Corrin in Prada

Viola Davis in Louis Vuitton
Image Credit: Courtesy of Louis Vuitton Davis’ lime green gown with metallic paneling is part of the bright color messaging, but the playful zippers and mixed media insets make it the most modern of the bunch.
-
Catherine O’Hara in Thom Browne

-
Cynthia Erivo in Alexander McQueen
The blush toned corset dress with draping skirt detailing is a great choice for the actress. The clean neckline allows for a powerful earring game that really enhances the inner toughness of the look.

Josh O’Connor in Loewe

Kaley Cuoco in Prabal Gurung
Playful volumes and vibrant colors are definitely the key trends of the night, and Cuoco nails both. The hot pink strapless gown with pouf sleeves and statement floral detail is a vision of spring blooms. The bright lip and pulled back hair really elevate the chic factor.
